Winter and Snow

This is week 2 of my HTML course. I still have much to learn!

I need to practise using my tags.

Today is Thursday, February 2, 2006, and all of the groundhogs say we are going to have an early spring. My question is:

How can we have an early spring, when we haven't even had (IMHO) winter yet?

I guess you can tell that I enjoy the snow. Winter without snow is like a summer with constant rain - good for nothing!

I believe that global warming is changing our climate, and we should try to cut down on our harmful emissions, for the good of the planet. Anyone who wishes to explore this topic further would benefit by visiting: The David Suzuki Foundation

When I was just a wee lass, I enjoyed winter because:

Now that I am an adult, I still enjoy winter because:
  1. I can skate on our front field
  2. I can play frisbee with my dog in the snow-covered fields
  3. I can drive my snowmobile
  4. there are no mosquitoes!

I guess it's fairly obvious that I do not live in a city. Most city dwellers detest snow. They just don't have any place to put it, they are all crushed up against one another like sheep in a pen. I suppose it is inconvenient for them, but I find it very hard to be sympathetic. I love snow. I think everyone should love snow. Snow is fun. Snow is warm. Snow is clean. My favourite refrain from a song:

"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."

We have another reason to celebrate winter this year - the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. The athletes competing in the winter sports must be a little bit crazy! The chaos that occurs in short track speed skating is like formula one racing! The speed with which the competitiors in skeleton hurl themselves down the track reminds me of bunging jumping without a cord! The rabbiting of the biathletes from a frenzy of speed to rock-like stillness!

The winter Olympics fascinate me in a way the summer games (yawn) never could. A cool blog can be found at:
